The Swiss ski holiday resort of Villars.

Villars, with half of its 100km of ski pistes classified as beginner, is the ideal place for those new to snow-sports. Intermediate ski provision is also impressive but advanced skiers should forget about going to Villars to extend themselves; there are just scraps of advanced ski pistes and some off-piste skiing. The ski area in Villars is linked to the holiday resort of Les Diablerets, as well as accessing the local glacier. This gives Villars a snow guarantee which is particularly useful at the start and end of the season. As with much glacier skiing, the ski pistes tend to be flat and wide. Villars has a ski pass that can also extend to Gstaad and Chateau d Oex. Après ski is quiet and fairly limited in Villars, with a handful of bars and restaurants, but the atmosphere and amenities in Villars are far better suited to families and romantics.
